Seetarama Sastry Vs Annamayya

Seeta Rama Sastry is a great Telugu lyricist. I read this article in http://www.greatandhra.com/ and liked it a lot....Thought of sharing this with you all. Enjoy!
It's a wonderful example for Seeta Rama Sastry's dexterity. He was asked to pen a song for a situation narrated by K Vishwanath for the film 'Sruthilayalu'. Vishwanath has given a line 'Telavarademo Swamy'. Then Seeta Rama Sastry has got a thought to write that song emulating the style of Annamayya. He continued that with the words '…Nee talapula munakalo alasina deveri alamelu mangakooo…'The song has come up very well and Viswanath also liked it. It was recorded, shot and everything was over. And when the song was sent to an awards jury in 1987 it was rejected on the grounds that it was 'Annamayya Keerthana'. But later with all sorts of explanations it was selected and given the award as well.

The point to be underlined is that singer Jesudas sang this song many times announcing the name of the lyricist as Annamayya. That was a memorable incident and song in the career of Seeta Rama Sastry.
